Everyone agreed it was cold

The programme said ghyll scrambling so off we headed with the Explorers, none of whom suggested we change to a dry activity.

We had a shorter time in the water that we would normally as it was super chilly. After an initial test of the water we headed up to the slide and after a dunking we headed back to get warm and dry.

Bronze DofE students enjoying a bike about Plym Bridge

The conditions were superb for the Bronze DofE this afternoon. We headed to Plym Bridge and split into groups by ability, then headed off on the various trails. Everyone pushed themselves, achieving more than they thought they could.

Success for the Sport Baccalaureate students!

The second year BTEC students ran a very good day canoeing for the year 7&8 students. The weather was sunny but cold in the wind and they did  a great job of keeping the youngsters motivated and enthralled throughout.

Explorers Club went to the Life Centre too!

The Explorers Club headed to the Life centre for a climb, they did tremendously well remembering all the rope work and all of them pushed their climbing on harder and more challenging routes.

Discoverers club climbing

We split the Discoverers Club in two yesterday, half came with me indoor climbing and the other half enjoyed a visit to Pridhamsleigh cavern for a spot of caving.
We had some students who missed the previous climbing session but they were soon shown the ropes by those that had been before and remembered all the knot tying and belaying skills.

Cracking bike ride, but very busy out there!

After we waited for a couple of students to not turn up, we headed to Haldon Hill and found some quite trails to blast around in the morning. Following lunch we split up with some students heading around the red loop with Mr Chilcott, and others honing their skills with Mr Rees. Great day out!

Gold DofE go Canoeing

It was hard to believe it was November on Friday, the clear sun filled sky and mirror smooth sea were a joy to paddle on. The students seemed to enjoy themselves as well! All in preparation for a canoe expedition in the summer.

Kayaks and Canoes on Thursday

Better late than never! All the Sport Baccalaureate students went paddling on Thursday, the first years were looking at efficient and effective paddling, while the second years got to grips with canoe rescue skills.
Some people got carried away and went for a swim, enjoying a two activity day
