Ten Tors

Well done to all students who took part in Ten Tors this weekend in Heatwave conditions.

Ten Tors Event

The 55 Mile team ready to go on Saturday morning.

Four PMC pupils supported by two other walkers from Stoke and St Lukes making up the 45 Mile team.

The 35 Mile team and their reserve on Saturday morning.

The guns fire...

...and they're off!
After miserable weather almost prevented the Ten Tors staff setting up basecamp on Thursday, Friday dawned clear and the warmest weather so far was forecast for the weekend event.

After struggling through the traffic the teams set off to be kit checked at Scruitineering. All got through fine and all that remained was to plan the routes for the next day.

Mr Beavington and Miss Sherratt were up super early to cook breakfast for everyone and we were all ready on the start line for 0700.

After a spectacular start with a two gun salute and fly by from the three RN helicopters the teams were off.

The team times can be found here under "Routes".

35s - Route C
45s - Route N
55s - Route W

Unfortunately the 35s and 55s both suffered from injuries, however the remaining team members were able to join with other teams and complete the event.

The 45s had an excellent event, completing their route in a superb time.

The 45s approaching the finish line on Sunday morning.

The 45s on the podium with their medals and certificate.

The three remaining 35s receiving their medals on Sunday.

Will and Christian on the podium having collected their 55 Mile medals from Lt Col Lewis.
 Well done everyone!!

Ten Tors is open to any pupils in Year 9 and above and information about training for a team next year will be available at the start of Autumn Term 2012/13.

Boarders Coasteering

Today Dr Jordan and I took a group of 12 boarders to Torbay for some Coasteering. Wehad a great time swimming, jumping, exploring caves and getting bashed about by the waves. The sun was out and it was warm on land but still very cold in the water.
